Your body knew first

About 12 minutesInteroceptive awareness ยท baseline measure

Before you had words for it, your body was already reacting. Learning to read that reaction gives you information that nobody can talk you out of.

Your body as a witness

When someone contradicts your memory, the argument happens in words. But your body registers the situation before the words arrive: a tight chest, a hot face, a sudden urge to apologise or to go quiet.

Those signals are not proof of anything on their own. They are data, and they are yours. Over the next weeks you will learn which ones reliably show up when something is off.

Interoception, the sense of what is happening inside your body, is trainable. People who notice their signals earlier tend to regulate better, simply because they get a few seconds' warning.

What happens in your body when a conversation starts going this way?

Right now, how much do you trust your own read of what happens between you?

Think of the last time your body reacted before you understood why. What did it notice that you only worked out later?

Take this with you

Your body is not always right, but it is always honest. It is worth listening to before anyone else.
